If I'm sleepless at midnight, I spend the hours in grateful reflection. Because you've always stood up for me, I'm free to run and play. I hold on to you for dear life, and you hold me steady as a post. Psalms 63:7-8I love this text from Psalms. It gives me a mental picture of me standing somewhere that is super windy - maybe the beach. And the winds and rain are pushing up against me and I'm hanging on for dear life. I am frightened and can't seem to find safety. And as I'm standing there scared and panicked, I am actually holding tightly to the figure of Jesus. He is calm and collected and standing there letting me hold onto Him.
Life sometimes feels like we're being attacked from all angles. It may feel like our trials are too hard or the day isn't worth facing, but just remember that Jesus is constant. He is there and is holding you steady and letting you hang on for dear life! He won't let you fall and He will be here with you and go with you through your day.
Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. James 1:2-4
