Encouragement is something we all need and is also something that we call can give to someone else.
Here are some helpful tips on giving encouragement:
- Be specific
- Be honest and kind - no flattery allowed.
- Be positive and confident. If there is a doubt to express, handle it with care and an alternative.
- Be spontaneous with your encouragement. It doesn't always have to be planned out.
- Don't worry how it is received. Many people don't know how to handle praise.
- Be consistent.
- Offer suggestions, not advice.
- Be your own best encourager!
