Be Still

This blog post is based off of Exodus 14:1-31 from the "New Women's Devotional Bible".

The story of Moses and the Israelites crossing through the Red Sea is one that many of us know. We know that Pharaoh was after the Israelites once again, the people were scared and thought that God had forsaken them, and without any hesitation, God saved His people.

We all have fear in our life. There is something that just scares you and it is hard to overcome. Whether it be a phobia, mine is snakes - so afraid of them. It may be fear of failure, or being alone, or possibly even the future. Fears are something that we all have in common. Even the Israelites expressed fear in their time.

Sometimes our fears cause us to take matters into our own hands instead of trusting God to give us peace. We possibly go into either fight of flight mode instead of trusting God mode. Sometimes it works for us. We get through the fear by either fighting it or fleeing it. But without God's help we will never face it.

God wants us to be still in His presence. He wants us to go to Him for peace and to face our fears with us. Take some time to be still with Him today. Allow God to take your fears and confront them.

"We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties." Oswald Chambers
