Unfazed by rumor and gossip, Heart ready, trusting in God. Psalm 112:7We all know that no man can serve two masters. The Bible clearly tells us that our heart will love one over the other and, therefore, one of them wins out and becomes greater than the other. I know that I am trying my best to make God my only treasure and so that He will be first in my life. Well, by human default, at times this changes. Even though I'm not trying to have other idols, other idols happen and can take over the "first seat" easily.
Sometimes when we aren't paying attention other idols can sneak in and become what we are "worshipping" instead of Christ. I'm not even talking about TV, books, music, or other idols that some of us might have; I'm talking about worry, stress, anxiety. These seem to creep in and consume our lives for the time being. Whatever is on your mind the most is what you are "worshipping". It has become your idol.
Instead of allowing these other idols to take first place, adjust your mind on greater things - such as Christ. Think of Him and how He can take away your worries, pain, and stress. Think on Him and know that He will consume your heart and mind and push out all other things.
When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good. 1 Corinthians 13:11
