But God told Samuel, "Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed with his looks and stature. I've already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7It doesn't matter how many good impression you've made, piles of make-up you put on your face, fancy clothes you wear, or even the smile you place on your face. It doesn't matter how many friends you have or what kind of job you hold. All that matters is the heart that's inside you. Is it kind, loving, sincere, humble?
All of these things are what God looks for in a person. We all can answer for ourselves, "Are we a good person?" I know that we all know that answer and we can decide if we need to change accordingly, or not.
God knows us inside out. He understands us completely and wants us to be able to shed all lies and come to Him with an open mind and heart. Sometimes we are so comfortable having a guard up and walls built for there people, we forget to come to God in full honesty and purity. We pretend in front of God as well and He can see right through it.
Try shedding that layer of "pretend". Come to God as yourself and let Him work from scratch with your life. Besides, if you come to Him with layers of pretend, He'll have to dig through those before He can work with who you really are.
I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. Romans 8:38-39
